Edit CSV File Using Microsoft Excel

When editing a Profitario CSV template in Microsoft Excel, follow these steps to avoid formatting issues.

Steps#

1. Download the template from the Cost Of Goods menu
2. Open the file in Microsoft Excel
3. Select column A entirely
4. Go to Data > Text to Columns
5. Choose Delimited and click Next
6. Select Comma as the delimiter and click Next
7. Format all columns as Text and click Finish
8. Review the resulting table for correctness

Why Format as Text?#

Excel may automatically interpret product IDs, variant IDs, or cost values in unexpected ways (e.g., converting long numeric IDs to scientific notation, or stripping leading zeros). Formatting all columns as Text prevents these interpretation errors and ensures the data uploads correctly.
