Sync Product Costs with Shopify
Mis à jour le 20 juillet 2026
Shopify lets you record a "Cost per item" on every product variant. Profitario can pull these values in and use them as your product costs, either once on demand or automatically whenever they change in Shopify.
All sync options live on the Product Costs page: click the Cost sync button at the top right of the table.
Keep Costs Synced Automatically#
Turn on Auto-sync from Shopify to import every future cost change automatically. Whenever you update a "Cost per item" in Shopify, the new value flows into Profitario within moments, including all future price changes you make. You maintain costs in one place, and Profitario stays up to date.
With auto-sync on, choose what a cost change should affect:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| New orders only | The new cost applies to orders placed after the change. Past orders keep the cost they were imported with, so historical reports do not move. |
| All orders | The new cost replaces the old one for every order of that variant, past and future. Affected orders are recalculated and historical reports update too. |
Choose New orders only if your supplier prices genuinely change over time and you want history to reflect what you actually paid. Choose All orders if you use Shopify as the single source of truth and want everything valued at the current cost.
Apply Shopify Costs Once#
If you do not want automatic updates, click Apply latest Shopify costs instead. Profitario re-fetches the current "Cost per item" for every variant and applies the values found. Variants where you have entered a cost manually or imported one from a file are skipped: your own costs always win over synced ones.
You can also apply costs selectively from the table, without turning anything on globally; see the icons below.
Reading the Icons in the Table#
The Source column shows where each cost comes from and what Shopify has on file:
| Icon | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Person badge | The cost was entered manually in Profitario. |
| Green Shopify badge | The Shopify cost is the active cost for this variant. |
| Gray Shopify badge | Shopify has a cost for this variant, but it is not applied; something else (for example a manual cost) is active. |
| Teal price pill | Appears when you hover a row with an available Shopify cost. Click it to apply that value with one click. |
| CSV and other text badges | The cost came from another source: a file import, the API, or a supplier integration like AliExpress. |
In the screenshot above, the coffee set has a manual cost of 14.20, and the teal pill shows Shopify's 23.80 ready to apply. The candle's green badge means its cost is live from Shopify, and the mug set's cost came from a CSV import.
Clicking the Shopify badge on a product row opens a per-variant view of what Shopify has on file: a filled dot means the Shopify cost is active for that variant, an empty dot means a cost is available but not applied, and a dash means the variant has no inventory item in Shopify.
Remove All Shopify Costs#
At the bottom of the Cost sync dialog, Remove all Shopify costs deletes every Shopify-sourced cost for the shop, including historical entries. Manual costs are not affected, and affected orders are recalculated.
Removing Shopify costs is permanent and includes historical entries. You are asked to type "remove" to confirm. Variants whose only cost came from Shopify are left without a cost afterwards, which overstates their profit until you add one.
