Which Shipping Cost an Order Gets

Mis à jour le 2 octobre 2026

An order can have a shipping cost from several places: a cost you typed on the order, a carrier or label, the amount the customer paid, and your shipping rules. Profitario uses exactly one of them.

In the sidebar: Orders, click an order, open the Costs tab.
Who
Stores that use more than one source of shipping costs, or that see a shipping cost they did not expect.

The Order of Precedence#

OrderSourceWhere it comes from
1A cost you entered on the order itselfEdit costs on the order. See below
2A carrier connection or a Shopify shipping labelThe real amount you were charged for the parcel
3What the customer paid for shippingOnly when Shipping classification is set to Count as expense
4Your shipping rulesThe rules on the Shipping page

The first source that has a value for the order wins and replaces everything below it. The amounts are never added across sources: an order with a $7.20 label and a $4.80 rule costs $7.20 to ship. An order with none of the four has a shipping cost of $0.00.

In the dashboard, the result is the Shipping Costs row under Fulfillment & Selling. To see which source an order used, open Orders in the sidebar, click the order and open the Costs tab.

The guides for each source: Import Shipping Costs from Your Carrier, Import Shopify Shipping Labels, Use What the Customer Paid as Your Shipping Cost, Add a Shipping Rule.

Change the Shipping Cost of One Order#

A cost you enter on a single order beats every other source, including a carrier cost.

  1. In the sidebar, open Orders and click the order.
  2. Click Edit costs.
  3. Type the amount into Shipping and click Save.

The order keeps this cost when rules change, when a recalculation runs and when a carrier reports a different amount. To go back to the automatic cost, open the same dialog and click Reset to auto. More in How to Manually Change the Cost of an Order.

Limits#

  • One source per order. A carrier cost and a rule are never added together, and a rule cannot top up a label cost.
