Add UTM Parameters to TikTok Ads

Updated October 6, 2026

TikTok's URL parameters go on each ad's destination URL. TikTok fills in the real campaign and ad IDs on every click, so the same line works for all your ads, and a duplicated ad keeps it.

The Parameters#

TikTok

Where: Ads Manager > the ad > Destination URL > Edit under the preview > Build URL parameters, or straight at the end of the destination URL.

Set per ad. Tag one ad and duplicate it: the copies keep the parameters.

Add Them in Ads Manager#

  1. 1

    Step 1 of 3

    Open the ad#

In TikTok Ads Manager, edit the ad, or create a new one and go on to the ad details. Drafts can be changed too.

  2. 2

    Step 2 of 3

Add the parameters to the destination URL#

Under Destination URL, the simplest way is to paste the line at the end of the URL: after a ?, or after an & if the URL already has a ?. TikTok's form does the same: click Edit under the preview, choose Build URL parameters, enter each parameter, then Add and Apply.

Do not turn on Auto-attach instead. It adds TikTok's own source and campaign values, but not the ad ID tag Profitario matches by.

  3. 3

    Step 3 of 3

    Publish#

Submit the ad. TikTok may review it again before it runs.

  4. Done

    Check the next order#

The preview under the destination URL shows the full link. Once an order comes from a TikTok ad, its Attribution tab shows Matched by ad ID.

Things TikTok Does Its Own Way#

Two underscores on each side. TikTok placeholders look like __CID__, not {cid}. One missing underscore and the text arrives as it is, so the order shows under Broken UTMs.

__CID__, not __AID__. TikTok calls the ad's ID the "Creative ID", __CID__. __AID__ is the ad group's ID: with it in pf_adid, no ad matches.

Smart+ campaigns. Upgraded Smart+ campaigns use __ADID_V2__ for the ad ID and __ADID_V2_NAME__ for its name. Use pf_adid=__ADID_V2__ there.

No account-wide setting, no bulk edit. TikTok sets parameters per ad and cannot change many ads at once. Tag one ad and duplicate it for new ones: copies keep the parameters.

Leave the Tracking section alone. The Tracking section of a TikTok ad is for TikTok's pixel and third-party tracking links. The parameters belong in the destination URL.
