Turn On the Profitario Pixel

Updated October 5, 2026

The pixel is turned on per store, on the Attribution page. A store needs one Shopify permission first, which you approve in your Shopify admin.

Where
In the sidebar, open Attribution. Inside a store, click Home at the top of the sidebar first.
Who
Stores that run paid ads.
Time
About 3 minutes per store.
Updates
Only orders placed after the pixel is on. Visit data reaches an order about 15 minutes after the checkout.

What Happens Next#

  • Right away. The pixel is added to your storefront through Shopify. You do not edit your theme, and no code is pasted anywhere.
  • Within seconds. Every page a visitor opens is recorded. Open Live events to watch.
  • About 15 minutes after a checkout. Every 15 minutes, Profitario takes the checkouts the pixel recorded, finds the order, and adds the visits of that buyer from the 30 days before the purchase to the order. If the order has not been imported yet, this is retried for 24 hours.
  • Not for the past. The pixel only knows visits made while it was on. Orders placed before that keep the attribution from Shopify's data, and a buyer who clicked your ad before you turned the pixel on is only seen from their first visit afterwards.

Check That It Works#

  1. 1

    Step 1 of 3

    Open Live events#

On the Attribution page, click Live events in the row of the store.

    Listening
The list covers the last 60 minutes and shows up to 50 events, newest first.
    A visit from an ad
The Detail column shows the page with everything after the question mark. Tracking parameters such as utm_source are recorded in full.
    A checkout
Started and completed checkouts are marked in colour. A completed checkout shows the Shopify order ID in place of the page.
  2. +

    If you need it

    Open your storeOptional#

If the list is empty, click Open store and load any page of your storefront. The page view appears within a few seconds. The list refreshes every 10 seconds.

  3. 2

    Step 2 of 3

    Check the status#

Back on the page, the status is Collecting, with the time of the last event below it.

  4. 3

    Step 3 of 3

Check the touchpoints of an order#

In the sidebar, open Orders, click an order placed after the pixel was turned on, and open Attribution. The Touchpoints list shows one card per visit, and Recorded by names its source: Order landing page and Shopify customer journey come from Shopify, web_pixel comes from the pixel.

Limits#

  • Past visits and past orders are not filled in. Recording starts when the switch is turned on.
  • One pixel per store. Each store is turned on separately, and each needs its own Shopify permission.
