How to Add Cost Changes to the Dashboard (Historical Cost)
Updated April 15, 2026
When your supplier changes prices over time, you can record historical cost changes so that orders are matched to the correct cost for the period in which they were placed.
Accessing Historical Cost#
- Open the Cost Of Goods menu
- Click the three-dot icon on the product or variant you want to edit
- Select Historical Cost
Applying Historical Cost#
Historical costs can be applied at either the product level or the variant level. The system operates on a daily level only -- costs change at midnight boundaries.
Date Range Rules#
- Leave the "from" date empty in the first row to keep all earlier orders unchanged at their original cost
- Leave the "to" date empty in the final row to apply that cost to all future orders
Example#
Suppose your supplier increases prices on two occasions:
| From | To | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| (empty) | April 1 | $15 |
| April 2 | April 30 | $20 |
| May 1 | (empty) | $30 |
In this example, orders placed before April 2 keep the $15 cost, orders from April 2-30 use the $20 cost, and orders from May 1 onward use the $30 cost.
