Add UTM Parameters to Google Ads
Updated October 6, 2026
Google Ads lets you set your URL parameters once for the whole account, in the Final URL suffix. Every campaign and ad, including the ones you create later, then sends Profitario the campaign and ad behind each click.

Set the Account's Final URL Suffix#
- 1
Step 1 of 3
Open the account settings#
In Google Ads, click Admin in the left menu, then Account settings. If you manage several accounts, open the account first: the setting is per account.

Step 2 of 3
Paste into Final URL suffix#
Expand Tracking. Paste the line above into Final URL suffix, exactly as it is, with no
?in front. Leave Tracking template as it is. Click Save. - 3
Step 3 of 3
Keep auto-tagging on#
In the same Account settings, open Auto-tagging and check that Tag the URL that people click through from my ad is ticked. It adds
gclidand the campaign ID that Profitario uses for Performance Max. Done
Check the next order#
Click one of your live ads and look at your store's address in the browser. It should end with your parameters and real numbers, such as
utm_id=21345678901. The next order from a Google ad shows the campaign in the order's Attribution tab.
The account suffix does not send your ads to review again, and nothing else changes in how they run.
Things Google Does Its Own Way#
A lower level replaces the account suffix. A Final URL suffix set on a campaign, ad group, ad or keyword is used instead of the account one there, not added to it. If an older suffix sits at one of those levels, remove it or add the parameters there too. In Campaigns, add the Tracking template column to see which items have their own.
Performance Max. {creative} is not filled for Performance Max, so those orders match at campaign level, not ad level. Google does not have one ad per click there anyway. The campaign match works through {campaignid} and through the campaign ID Google adds by itself with auto-tagging.
No campaign names. Google has placeholders for IDs, not for names, so utm_campaign holds the campaign ID too. Profitario shows the campaign's name from your connected account. If you want names in Google Analytics, Google's custom parameters ({_campaign}, set on each campaign) can add them.
Using a tracking template instead. Some tools (Triple Whale among them) put their parameters in the Tracking template as {lpurl}?.... That works too, and Profitario reads their tags. The template and the suffix are separate fields, so you can keep both.
Free product listings are not ads. Clicks from Google's free Shopping listings carry srsltid and count as organic search, not as Google Ads.
