Where Expenses Appear on the Dashboard and in Reports

Updated October 2, 2026

Operating expenses lower your Net Profit. This guide shows the row or report that holds them on each page.

Where
The dashboard Overview, Reports > Pivot Table, Reports > Income Statement and the Expense Report.
Who
Anyone who wants to check that an expense arrived in the numbers.

Where to Look#

Dashboard. In the Overview, operating expenses are the row Operating Expenses under Fixed Operating Costs, directly above Net Profit. They lower Net Profit and Net Margin. They do not change Gross Profit or Contribution Margin. The dashboard cards Operating Expenses and Marketing Expenses show the same amounts split in two: Marketing Expenses holds the category Marketing & Advertising, Operating Expenses holds all other categories.

Dashboard Views. A view that combines several stores adds up the expenses of its stores.

Pivot Table. Under Reports > Pivot Table, the row Operating Expenses can be expanded into one line per category.

Income Statement. Under Reports > Income Statement, the row Operating Expenses holds every category except Marketing & Advertising, which is listed as Marketing Expenses under Marketing.

Expense Report. Click View Report above the list, or View Report in a row menu to open the report for that one expense. The report shows the chart Expenses by Category and a table by period (Daily, Weekly or Monthly) for the date range you choose, with a filter for single expenses and an export. A paused expense has no data in the report, so View Report is greyed out in its row menu.
