Import Shipping Costs from Your Carrier
Updated October 2, 2026
A carrier connection imports the amount you really paid for each shipment and writes it to the matching order. Use it when you buy labels in a shipping tool, so the real price of every parcel already exists.
- Where
- In the sidebar: Integrations, section Shipping.
- Who
- Stores that ship with Shippo, Easyship, Shipmondo, ShipStation, Shipwire, ShipHero, ShippingEasy, Sendcloud, ShipBob, Shipway or ShipEngine.
- Updates
- The first import runs with the next hourly update and goes back up to three years. New shipments follow every hour.
Connect the Carrier#
- In the sidebar, open Integrations. If you are inside a store, click Home at the top of the sidebar first.
- Scroll to the Shipping section and click your provider.
- Click Connect Integration, enter the credentials from your provider's account and click Connect.
The providers in the Shipping section today: Shippo, Easyship, Shipmondo, ShipStation, Shipwire, ShipHero, ShippingEasy, Sendcloud, ShipBob, Shipway and ShipEngine. The general steps are in Connect an Integration.
What Happens Next#
- Nothing is imported at the moment you connect. The first import runs with the next hourly update and goes back up to three years. After that, new shipments are picked up every hour.
- The credentials are not checked when you connect. If they are wrong, the connection shows Failed after the first import.
- Each shipment is matched to one of your Shopify orders. Several shipments of one order are added together. A shipment with a cost of 0 is ignored.
- For an order with a matched shipment, the carrier cost replaces your shipping rules and the amount the customer paid.
- An order without a matched shipment keeps the cost from the next source: the amount the customer paid if Count as expense is on, otherwise your rules, otherwise $0.00.
To see what was imported, open the provider on the Integrations page, click the three dots of the connection and choose View Records. The list can be filtered by Matched, Unmatched and Skipped. Sync Orders tries to match the unmatched shipments again.
Add a shipping rule with the scope All orders as well (Add a Shipping Rule). Orders that have no shipment yet, or that the import cannot match, then show an estimate and not $0.00. The real cost replaces the estimate as soon as it arrives.
Limits#
- A carrier cost and a rule are never added together: for a matched order the carrier cost replaces the rule.
- A carrier connection covers all stores of the account.
