Set Up Your Shipping Costs
Updated October 3, 2026
Shipping cost is what you pay to get an order to the customer, not what the customer pays you at checkout. Profitario deducts it from every order's profit, so each store that ships products needs one of four setups: a flat cost, rates per country, a carrier connection, or the amount the customer paid. This article explains the Shipping page and the four setups. The guides below cover each task in detail.
- Where
- In the sidebar: Expenses > Shipping.
- Who
- Every store that ships products. Shipping costs are set per store
- Updates
- You choose per rule: new orders only, all matching orders, or from a date. Carrier and label costs arrive with the hourly import

What Is on the Shipping Page#
In the sidebar, open Expenses, then Shipping.

The sample store in the screenshot has two rules: every order costs $4.80 to ship, and orders to six countries cost $8.90.
Four Ways to Set Up Shipping Costs#
Pick the setup that matches how you pay for shipping. You can combine them: a carrier for the real cost, and a rule as the estimate for orders the carrier has not reported yet.
| Setup | Fits when | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| A flat cost per order | A parcel costs you about the same every time | Add a Shipping Rule |
| Different rates per country or zone | Your cost depends on the destination, weight or number of items | Add a Shipping Rule, Set Shipping Rates by Weight or Quantity (Tiers) |
| A carrier or Shopify labels | A shipping tool or Shopify knows the real price of every parcel | Import Shipping Costs from Your Carrier, Import Shopify Shipping Labels |
| What the customer paid | You pass shipping on at cost and have no better number | Use What the Customer Paid as Your Shipping Cost |
An order uses exactly one source. Which one wins is described in Which Shipping Cost an Order Gets.
Limits#
- One source per order. A carrier cost and a rule are never added together.
- Shipping costs are per store. Rules are not shared between the stores of an account. A carrier connection covers all stores of the account.
